The Ultimate Christmas Guide for the North Shore




This Christmas season is about to begin many different events and activities that will take place on the North Shore. This year the Shipbuilders will be the epicenter of Christmas fun in North Vancouver with events and fairs happening every weekend. Also, there will be ongoing free skating at the ice rink, which we are anxiously waiting to be inaugurated  But Lower Lonsdale is not the only place on the North Shore where Christmas is a huge deal. The Peak of Christmas at Grouse Mountain and Canyon Lights are kicking off this weekend.  The Dundarave Festival of Lights is scheduled with four weekends of free concerts and fun.  


The Shipyards


November 30, 2019, 3pm to 7pm  Celebrate the season at the City of North Vancouver annual Christmas Festival and take in the magic of the City’s waterfront. The Shipyards will be transformed into a winter wonderland filled with music and twinkling lights, and many fun free activities, including live music and entertainment.  Main Stage Entertainment:
  • 3:20 pm: Lynnmour Elementary School children’s choir
  • 4 pm: Children's entertainer Sue Breton on stage
  • 5:15 pm: CapU Jazz Holiday trio on stage
  • 6:00 pm: Nutcracker dance performance by Seymour Dance School
  • 6:50 pm: Mayor Buchanan lights the giant Christmas Tree

Grouse Mountain transforms into Vancouver's North Pole. As the snow falls and the lights twinkle, explore all that Grouse Mountain has to offer this holiday season. Santa and his reindeer are waiting for you to come up and visit.

Re-capture the feeling of wonder and excitement of the holiday season and be amazed by the hundreds of thousands of lights throughout the park. The suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest, and canyon are transformed into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment.

LIGHT DISPLAY HOURS:  5:00pm – 9:00pm daily

The annual Dundarave Festival of Lights kicks off with a Christmas tree decorating beach party on November 30. On the four Saturdays leading up to Christmas, stop by for an afternoon of free concerts to spark your Christmas spirit. The official lighting of the Festival’s Christmas tree forest takes place at dusk.

Entry by donation: 100% proceeds to the North Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society.


Park & Tilford Hi-Light Festival


Opening Night: November 30 | 7pm – 10pm

Park & Tilford is set to light up the season with the 30th annual Holiday Hi-Light Festival. This annual event features a majestic festival of lights with over 150,000 on display over 3 acres. The lights turn are on between 5pm-9pm daily between December 1st and December 31st.  The opening Light Up festivities begin around 6:30pm, with hot chocolate, live entertainment and a Light Up countdown to be enjoyed by all! Entry by donation: 100% proceeds to the North Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society.

Panorama Park

Visit the shores of beautiful Deep Cove this holiday season, where we'll be gathering in Panorama Park on December 14 at 7:30 pm to watch the Carol Ships sail by. Enjoy a warm and festive evening, filled with musical entertainment, roving performers, free craft workshops, a blazing bonfire, and beautiful lights. Santa himself may even stop by!

In support of The Harvest Project and Family Services, we welcome you to bring donations of food or unwrapped gifts. Some of the most needed items include gifts for teen girls and boys, canned foods, condiments, rice, pasta, toiletries, and diapers.
